Tiverton Castle Trip

Hedgehog and Squirrel classes had a wonderful trip to Tiverton Castle. We saw a suit of armour and felt how heavy the helmet was. We stood in the remains of the tower and saw the huge chimney that the children used to have to clean and we also saw a medieval toilet – a hole in the wall! We saw a copy of the Bayeux tapestry which showed the scene where King Harold was shot in the eye which ended the Battle of Hastings in 1066 when William the Conqueror became King, and we learnt that King Harold’s mother lived in Tiverton Castle!
