Fire Talk

On Tuesday, Wendy Gosling from Devon & Somerset Fire Service visited for a full school assembly and workshops.

The focus of the visit was fire prevention and encouraging safe behaviour.

Wendy delivered an hour's workshop to Fox class and then Hedgehog and Owl classes, with each session being age-appropriate and aimed to help children identify risks in everyday situations and help them make informed choices when it comes to safe behaviour.

The workshops are careful not to overwhelm children or make them feel anxious and responsible for keeping others safe – or to put themselves at risk by dealing with fire hazards themselves.

The workshops were to encourage children to share important messages with their friends and families, helping to keep them safe too. However, the responsibility for making their home safer is still very much placed with their parents and carers.
