Dear parents and carers,
It has been a lovely second week of term. The children have been thoroughly enjoying the clement weather and using the field for their OPAL activities. The field is looking lovely after having a fresh cut early on this week.
Our assembly this week focused on what to do when we come across problems and feel like we can’t move on. We looked at squeeze styles in the Peak District as an example of how we have to sometimes find the help we need, from friends, parents and teachers to help us push through the difficulty to get us through to the other side. We also discussed that asking for help is not giving up – it is refusing to give up!
Thank you to everyone who has already signed up for Class Dojo. I know that some teachers have already been sharing information with their class’s parents using this platform. Enabling notifications on your device will keep you up to speed on any announcements. Mrs Jones has also edited the photographic consent form on Arbor to reflect that teachers will only be posting photographs or videos of children on Class Dojo. Please can you complete this with your preference at your earliest convenience.
Teachers will also be sending home curriculum letters this week, highlighting the learning that each class will be undertaking this term. Please take the time to look over these to help promote conversations at home about your child’s learning, which will also help to reinforce the sticky knowledge that we wish them to remember.
Next week, we welcome Open the Book back into school, with their dramatic interpretation of Bible verses and stories from the New Testament. I also spoke with Stuart, our Rock Steady band leader and there will be an opportunity coming soon for children to have a trial with the band, with a view to filling a couple of spaces that are becoming available. Please keep an eye out for more information if this appeals to you.
Enjoy the weekend and we look forward to seeing you all next week.
Many thanks
Mr Hookes
