Dear Parents/Carers
As the Spring term draws to a close, it’s good to take a moment to reflect on what a wonderful and productive few months it has been at Umberleigh Academy. From exciting learning experiences in the classroom to memorable events and achievements, there is so much to celebrate.
Beyond the fun of dressing up for World Book Day, we focused on the mechanics of reading through a guest visit from South Molton Library and a dedicated Phonics Workshop for Year 1 parents. These events highlighted how storytelling sparks imagination and builds a foundation for success across the entire curriculum.
Our wider curriculum came to life through several immersive experiences:
- Science Day: Students became investigators, using experiments to test predictions and discover "wow" moments.
- Themed Adventures: Classes transitioned from Astronaut Training—complete with lantern-making—to Rainforest Explorers Day in Pitt Woods.
- Safety First: The Fire and Rescue Service visited to share life-saving tips on fire prevention and water safety.
Whether it was the TEAM Cross Country runners cheering each other through the mud or the brave students sharing jokes for Red Nose Day, our pupils consistently showed a "can-do" attitude. We also enjoyed a successful charity cake sale and invaluable parent-teacher meetings to celebrate this term's progress.
A huge thank you to our children; your enthusiasm and readiness to learn make this school a joy to work in every day. We are also incredibly grateful to our dedicated staff for planning such inspiring activities and ensuring every child has the opportunity to grow. Finally, thank you to our parents and carers for your support.
As we look toward a (hopefully) sunnier term, please keep wellies in school so we can continue to enjoy our outdoor Opal play.
Wishing everyone in the Umberleigh Academy community a very Happy Easter!
