Dear Parents/Carers
It’s been a fantastic and busy week across the school, with so much going on. It has been lovely to see the children engaging so enthusiastically in such a wide range of learning experiences.
Last Friday, we celebrated Red Nose Day in style, with children coming to school dressed in something funny. We saw a wonderful array of creative outfits and heard plenty of brilliant jokes. Many children showed great confidence and bravery by standing up in front of others to share their jokes—well done to them all! We also enjoyed a very successful cake sale at the end of school. Thank you to everyone who kindly donated cakes. We are delighted to have raised a fantastic total of £246 for Comic Relief this year – well done all!
On Monday, Squirrel and Fox Class took part in their exciting Astronaut Training Day, a perfect way to round off their topic. The children immersed themselves in a variety of space-themed activities, including creative art projects. A special thank you to Amber Rose for giving her time to work with the children and help them create a beautiful lantern Planet Earth. We were also very impressed with the children’s costumes—thank you to parents for your effort and support; everyone looked amazing.
We were also pleased to welcome Wendy Gosling, an Education Advocate from Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service. She spoke to the children about the importance of fire prevention and safe behaviour, as well as sharing valuable water safety advice in partnership with the RNLI.
We have had to re-schedule our planned Rainforest Explorers Day from today to TOMORROW – apologies for any inconvenience caused. Tomorrow our Owl and Hedgehog Class will be taking part in a Rainforest Explorers Day. Children should come dressed in their Forest School kit please (kits will be sent home with children today). They will be engaging in debates about rainforest deforestation, considering different perspectives such as farmers, indigenous communities, logging companies and environmental activists. The day will also include creating rainforest dioramas and spending time exploring Pitt Woods.
We would also like to invite parents and carers into school next Thursday morning from 8:45–9:15 to look through the children’s books and see the wonderful work they have completed this term. The children really enjoy sharing their hard work and take great pride in showing what they have achieved. If you are able to join us, we would be delighted to see you.
Finally, thank you to all parents and carers who attended the parent/teacher meetings this week. These conversations are invaluable in helping us to build a strong partnership between home and school, ensuring that every child is supported to achieve their very best. It was a pleasure to share the children’s progress and celebrate their successes with you, as well as discuss next steps in their learning. If you were unable to attend, please do get in touch with the school office to arrange an alternative time—we are always happy to meet and talk about your child’s development.
