Life, Love and Learning to the Full

Dear Parents/Carers

On Monday, our school was buzzing with excitement as we celebrated a fantastic Science Day! The children took part in a range of fun and engaging activities that sparked curiosity and encouraged them to think like real scientists.

At Umberleigh Academy, we place strong value on our wider curriculum and ensure that all subjects are given importance. Our curriculum is designed to build knowledge progressively, while giving pupils regular opportunities to apply what they have learned in meaningful contexts. Events such as Science Day support this approach by allowing children to explore scientific concepts in a practical, engaging way.

Throughout the day, each class explored different scientific topics through hands-on experiments. There were lots of “wow” moments as children made predictions, tested their ideas, and discovered surprising results.

One of the highlights of the day was the opportunity for children to work collaboratively, sharing their ideas and learning from one another. It was wonderful to see such enthusiasm, creativity, and teamwork across the school.

We were also very impressed with how well the children used their scientific skills, including observing, questioning, and recording their findings. They showed great curiosity and a real love of learning.

A big thank you to all the staff who planned and organised such an exciting day. Science Day was a huge success, and we look forward to many more opportunities to explore and discover in the future!
