Together, Each Achieves More

Dear Parents and Carers,

Well it took the first named storm of the year to steal the show as we end the first half of the Autumn term. But, storm aside, it has been a wonderful start to my headship and I thank all the children, staff and parents for making it such a positive experience.

The children look amazing in their costumes today. An array of pumpkins, scarecrows, carrots, peas, strawberries and of course, a fanfare of farmers (if this isn’t the collective noun, I think it should be).

It has been a busy week with flu vaccinations, harvest rehearsals and individual photographs, but the children have taken it all in their stride, such is their confidence and resilience. It was really nice to see the quality of the photographs this year. Take it from someone who has come out the other side – you will want to have the memory to look back on and they are perfect stocking fillers for grandparents!

A few weeks ago, the children in Owls were invited to create a logo for the parish council and last week Mrs Langdon set aside some curriculum time for them to do this. The committee met and looked through the anonymised pieces of work and have confirmed their choice. It is a lovely thing to be able to connect with our parish council and I am pleased to announce that the chosen artist was Peggy May from. There will be a full write-up of this in the Chronicle, so make sure you grab a copy when it is released!

Some staffing news – Miss Fran Trofa, our SENDCO has gone on early maternity leave, which means we welcome Mrs Helen Troth. Helen will be supporting the school and our children with special needs. She brings a wealth of experience and is already supporting schools in the trust.

We will also be welcoming Mr Adam Morris when we return. Mr Morris will be replacing Mrs Westwood when she starts her maternity leave a couple of weeks after we come back. He will be starting on the first day back, overlapping with Mrs Westwood to get used to our curriculum and day-to-day operations, before taking on the lead teacher role in Hedgehogs.

We have a quiet first week back, so there is nothing for you to prepare for. Instead, have a wonderful time with your children over the half-term holiday and I look forward to seeing you all nice and refreshed in just over a week.
