Dear Parents and Carers,
Five weeks down and only two before the half-term break. Where has the time gone?
As I write this, the view of the trees outside the office window reminds me that we have most definitely moved into Autumn. Darker mornings and evenings have an impact on the body’s circadian rhythm (our sleep cycle) and research has shown that we may actually need to sleep up to an hour more during the darker months. Be kind to yourselves and your children during this time – nip off to bed a little earlier! Your mental and emotional health will thank you. Here is a Guardian article that explains it in more detail:

We have had a lovely week in school. On Monday, Poppy from The Sign-Maker (https://www.sign-maker.co.uk/) came to talk to us about World Animal Day and how they operate to ensure they protect the countryside and ensure their goal of being a sustainable, carbon-neutral company. As part of this, they donated personalised bird boxes which you should have seen on Class Dojo today. Roll on Spring!
We also had our Open The Book assembly on Wednesday, where the children learnt about the story of the Garden of Eden. There was some fine acting from Poppy, Tom and James in the main roles of Adam, Eve and the snake. Well done!
Parents' evenings are fast approaching and the booking system is available on Arbor. For any parents who have not yet signed up for an appointment, please make sure you do so. If there are absolutely no slots available that you can make, let your child’s teacher know via Class Dojo.
Our harvest celebration is also in the near future. As with past years, we will be supporting the Freedom Centre. Please see the attached list of items that they would like us to collect for them, which can be brought into class from next week.
I’d like to finally extend a sincere thank you to The Oggle Band, who enjoyed themselves so much on Miss Smith’s final day, that they agreed to waive their fee. A truly heart-warming act of generosity and kindness. Their schedule and contact details can be found via Facebook, should you wish to watch them at one of their upcoming gigs, or book them for your party!
Have a wonderful weekend and we will see you all next week.
Many thanks
Mr Hookes
