A huge thank you to Exmoor Rangers Sophie and Connie, whose enthusiasm, knowledge, and expertise made the experience both educational and fun. Their guidance helped the children develop a deeper understanding of the natural world and inspired a real sense of curiosity and adventure.

It was a wonderful day of exploration, learning, and unforgettable memories!

Everyone showed great imagination and perseverance as they worked on their designs, and the finished masks looked fantastic. It was a fun and engaging activity that helped bring our Viking topic to life while developing the children's artistic skills and creativity.

The children made predictions, carried out fair tests and carefully recorded their results. They compared how many objects each magnet could pick up and discussed the factors that might affect a magnet's strength.

It was wonderful to see the pupils working collaboratively, asking thoughtful scientific questions and developing their investigation skills. The class thoroughly enjoyed their hands-on learning and gained a deeper understanding of the fascinating properties of magnets.

After their woodland adventure, the children had great fun playing a game of hide and seek. They worked together, practised taking turns, and developed their confidence as they explored the outdoor space safely.

It was wonderful to see so much curiosity, teamwork and enthusiasm throughout the afternoon, with lots of smiles and laughter along the way!

The children had lots of fun building the Giant’s castle in the clouds using bubbles and planting their own magic beans (marigolds). We also painted beautiful beanstalk pictures growing up through the clouds, searched for magic beans hidden in shaving foam, and created collages using a variety of different beans.

The children enjoyed listening to the story with props, helping to bring the tale to life. We also practised our sorting and counting skills by organising magic beans (jelly beans) into different colours and discussing which colour had the most and which had the least.

Over the past few weeks, the children have carefully observed the incredible transformation from tiny caterpillars to beautiful butterflies. Through this hands-on experience, they learnt all about the butterfly life cycle and the different stages of metamorphosis.

The butterfly release was an exciting and memorable event, giving the children the opportunity to see first-hand the final stage of the life cycle they had been studying. It was wonderful to watch the butterflies spread their wings and fly away into their natural habitat.

We are very proud of the children's enthusiasm, curiosity and care throughout this fascinating learning journey.

As a special treat for their hard work, we enjoyed some paddling pool fun to help everyone cool down in the warm weather. The children had a wonderful time splashing, playing, and enjoying the sunshine with their friends. It was a lovely way to finish an exciting day outdoors.

However, one of the plants did not grow because it was shaded by weeds.

Fortunately, the woodland animals were there to help...

Equipped with determination and teamwork, the children worked together to put out the fire. There was lots of excitement as smoke filled the air, adding to the realism of the experience. After plenty of effort and cooperation, the firefighters successfully put the fire out!

It was a fantastic hands-on activity that helped bring our learning to life, building confidence, teamwork, and an understanding of the important role firefighters play in keeping us safe.

We would like to wish her all the very best in her new role and thank her for everything she has done. She will be greatly missed.

We had lots of fun designing and making our own boats, testing them to see if they would float. During our floating and sinking activity, we investigated which objects stayed on the surface and which ones sank. We also made telescopes, which we used to explore the field and spark our imaginations.

In addition, we played a fun fishing game where we practised our counting skills by keeping track of how many fish we each caught. To finish the week, we enjoyed searching for hidden objects in bubbly water, which was a great sensory activity.

It has been a busy and exciting week full of learning and discovery!

There was great excitement as they identified a variety of pond life, including tiny insects and wriggling water creatures. The children showed fantastic curiosity, asking thoughtful questions and sharing their discoveries with one another.

It was a fantastic opportunity to learn more about habitats and living things, as well as to enjoy the outdoors in the beautiful weather. The afternoon was filled with enthusiasm, teamwork, and plenty of memorable moments.

We did find though that, because it was raining and everything was wet, nothing was sticking, so we decided to go inside and use the crafty bits instead.
