Visitors to school

Chittlehampton Twinning Association

We were delighted to welcome Cllr Joe Tucker to school along with Edna Ford from the Chittlehampton Twinning Association.  They presented the school with a webcam so that the pupils at Umberleigh can see their pen pals in France.  Many of the children have been writing to children in the the French village twinned with Chittlehampton.  This will be a wonderful opportunity to get to know our French counterparts even better.   Many thanks to the Twinning Association and the local council for providing this wonderful facility.

  Vet

The KS1 class were delighted to welcome Jenny Horton, a vet from the Horsepond Veterinary Centre with her dog.  The children learnt all about looking after animals.

Operation Christmas Child

The children of Umberleigh packed shoeboxes full of gifts for the Samaritans Purse "Operation Christmas child" appeal.  These boxes are delivered all over the world to children in countries that are suffering from war or poverty.  Here are some of the children with the boxes they have collected........

"Children in Need Day"

As part of the Children in Need Day all the pupils and staff at Umberleigh School came dressed in their pyjamas on Friday.  They brought with them their own special teddy bears and the whole day was themed around bears.  The children made bear biscuits, jointed bears, drew their bears and sang bear songs.  The day ended with a "Paws for thought".  Here are some pictures of the day..................

At the end of the day all the children placed their coins on a giant Pudsey Bear until he was covered.  Then all the year 5 & 6's counted all the money, an amazing £43.00, which has been sent to Children in Need.

Slowcoach comes to school

Mrs Hyland brought her tortoise, aptly named slowcoach, into school so the children could see him before his winter hibernation.
